An Unwilling Baroness by Harris Channing

Welcome to Mamawolf's Romantic Reads today I am spotlighting An Unwilling Baroness

by Harris Channing

Three years ago, Chloe allowed her heart's desire to leave her. Now Jude is back, but between his mother, her father and the Baron von Richter, is she destined to become an unwilling baroness?

I read this book when I had the Harris Channing Read-a-thon and I have not been a big reader of Regency Novels so I didn't know if I would enjoy it. To my surprise I loved this novella. The characters and story pulled me into their world. This is a Regency Romance novella. I really loved this story. Chloe and Jude are meant for each other and are very well written. Chloe's father and Jude's mother are married so Chloe will not admit her love for Jude until he is gone. Her family is in financial trouble and want her to marry a baron from Germany. When he comes to call on Chloe, Jude shows back up with his fiancé. Great story!!

I am happy to be able to ask Harris some questions about the book recently.

What do you enjoy about writing Regency Romances?

What do I enjoy about writing Regency Romances...hmmm...I like the era. I love Jane Austen. I find her characters to be so charming and interesting. I fell in love, like so many others, with Mr. Darcy. I wanted to play in that world and with writing, I get to!

Where did the idea for this book come from, do you sit and write or do you an out the story?

Where did the idea come from? I don't know! It just came. No, I don't outline unless I absolutely have to! Being 'that sort of writer' does sometimes mean I write myself into a corner and that's when outlining becomes a must! Usually, I just sit and write.

Will the Baron get a story?

Will the Baron get a story? I think he should. He's a wonderful man...What do you think?

I think he defiantly needs his story told I so want him to have a Happily Ever After.

Who was your favorite character to write?

My favorite character to write? Good question! I enjoyed writing them all. But I have to say, Chloe was fun to write. There's a scene where she rushes to where Jude and Frederick are fighting. She assumes it's over her. When it's not you can almost feel her humiliation! Yes. I'm like that. I like to humiliate my characters! Keeps them humble!

If you love Regency or are trying it for the first time I highly recommend An Unwilling Baroness.

Thank you Harris for taking the time to answer a few.

Happy Birthday Beth Williamson/ Emma Lange

In honor Beth's Birthday !!!!!!

A con man. A rancher’s daughter. A wildfire out of control.

Elizabeth Graham spends her days running the business side of the Circle Eight ranch. Her knack for numbers and organization lent themselves to her position in the family. She has just turned twenty-one and doubts she will find a man to spend her life with. Elizabeth doesn’t believe in love, after all, and when she meets a charlatan named Vaughn Montgomery, her opinion doesn’t waver. At first.

Vaughn Montgomery is down to the lint in his pocket and the handsome smile he uses as a weapon. His last con in New Orleans went wrong and he fled west. Now he finds himself trapped in the middle of nowhere Texas. And at the mercy of a hard-nosed woman who wears shapeless dresses and whose tongue can cut blocks of wood.

Unwilling to bend and unable to forgive, Elizabeth and Vaughn get caught up in a web of lies that stretches from Austin to Dallas. She finds herself falling for the man who can’t seem to tell the truth and he can’t get enough of a woman who can only speak truths. Together they have to save the Circle Eight and try to avoid falling in love.

Review
"The last thing that Elizabeth Graham expected to see when she opened the door during the worst storm of the summer was a naked man. Yet there he was...". This is a great way to start "Vaughn". This is the next book that is part of The Circle Eight series. This book revolves around Elizabeth Graham and Vaughn Montgomery. The entire Graham clan is away from The Circle Eight and Elizabeth has stayed behind to take care of Martha who is to old and frail to go on a trip. When Vaughn appears at her door he is naked and beaten and Elizabeth takes him in and nurses him back to health. As she is helping him get better she wonders what happened to him, she doesn't know that Vaughn has a sordid past and that it is about to catch up to him and pull her and The Circle Eight into it.

This is another great book by author Emma Lang. I love the strength that this family has and Elizabeth surely proves that she is part of that strength. The other characters in the book are very well written and they have a lot of depth to them. If you have not read this series I highly recommend it and if you have you are going to love Vaughn

Here is the first book in a series that I highly recommend you read.

A man learns to hold what is his

It is a vast spread in the eastern wilds of the newly independent Republic of Texas, the ranch their parents fought for … and died for. To the eight Graham siblings, no matter how much hard work or hard love it takes, life is unthinkable without family…

In the wake of his parents’ murder, Matthew Graham must take the reins at the Circle Eight. He also needs to find a wife in just thirty days, or risk losing it all. Plain but practical, Hannah Foley seems the perfect bride for him . . . until after the wedding night.

Their marriage may make all the sense in the world, but neither one anticipates the jealousies that will result, the treacherous danger they’re walking into, or the wildfire of attraction that will sweep over them, changing their lives forever.

Now for the fun!!! I will be giving away an e-book version of Matthew
to one lucky commenter.
Give Beth a Happy Birthday wish and be in the running for the e-book.

Excerpt from Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission (Brie Dreams of Serving Faelan):

He handed her a note, and then left her on the dance floor alone. She opened the red envelope and read the words: Meet your Master in the library.

Brie kissed it, then fairly skipped off the dance floor, thrilled by his summons. She sauntered down the large hallway and took a deep breath before opening the large wooden door of the library.

The room was dark except for the crackling fire burn
The room was dark except for the crackling fire burning brightly on the opposite side of the room. The light of the flames glimmered off the covers of thousands of books lining the walls, and silhouetted the high-backed chairs and the table positioned near the fireplace.

Brie did not see anyone in the room, but shut the door quietly and headed towards the fire, intoxicated by the unknown.

“Stop.”

She held herself still, melting at the sound of his voice. Two figures appeared from the shadows—a man wearing a crimson mask, and another with a black mask that complemented his silver hair.

“We are going to play a game, pet.”

Brie’s heart skipped a beat. His games always proved challenging. “Yes, Master.”

The gentleman in the dark mask sat down while her Master moved up behind Brie. His warm breath tickled her neck. “But first, I must undress you.”

She felt his hands at the back of her neck as he unzipped her dress and let it pool at her feet. She had been instructed not to wear a bra or panties, so she stood naked except for her high heels before the two men.

“She has lovely breasts,” she heard the stranger say.

“That’s not all that is lovely about her,” her Master answered, slipping his hand between her legs. She felt his middle finger press into her, causing her to moan softly.

He growled in her ear. “The rules of the game are simple. He watches and directs. You do as he says.”

Brie nodded in understanding, goosebumps covering her skin despite the warmth of the fireplace. What will be asked of me?

“I want her bound to the table.”

Brie looked at the table and noticed for the first time the glint of metal.
