An Unwilling Baroness by Harris Channing

Welcome to Mamawolf's Romantic Reads today I am spotlighting An Unwilling Baroness

by Harris Channing

Three years ago, Chloe allowed her heart's desire to leave her. Now Jude is back, but between his mother, her father and the Baron von Richter, is she destined to become an unwilling baroness?

I read this book when I had the Harris Channing Read-a-thon and I have not been a big reader of Regency Novels so I didn't know if I would enjoy it. To my surprise I loved this novella. The characters and story pulled me into their world. This is a Regency Romance novella. I really loved this story. Chloe and Jude are meant for each other and are very well written. Chloe's father and Jude's mother are married so Chloe will not admit her love for Jude until he is gone. Her family is in financial trouble and want her to marry a baron from Germany. When he comes to call on Chloe, Jude shows back up with his fiancé. Great story!!

I am happy to be able to ask Harris some questions about the book recently.

What do you enjoy about writing Regency Romances?

What do I enjoy about writing Regency Romances...hmmm...I like the era. I love Jane Austen. I find her characters to be so charming and interesting. I fell in love, like so many others, with Mr. Darcy. I wanted to play in that world and with writing, I get to!

Where did the idea for this book come from, do you sit and write or do you an out the story?

Where did the idea come from? I don't know! It just came. No, I don't outline unless I absolutely have to! Being 'that sort of writer' does sometimes mean I write myself into a corner and that's when outlining becomes a must! Usually, I just sit and write.

Will the Baron get a story?

Will the Baron get a story? I think he should. He's a wonderful man...What do you think?

I think he defiantly needs his story told I so want him to have a Happily Ever After.

Who was your favorite character to write?

My favorite character to write? Good question! I enjoyed writing them all. But I have to say, Chloe was fun to write. There's a scene where she rushes to where Jude and Frederick are fighting. She assumes it's over her. When it's not you can almost feel her humiliation! Yes. I'm like that. I like to humiliate my characters! Keeps them humble!

If you love Regency or are trying it for the first time I highly recommend An Unwilling Baroness.

Thank you Harris for taking the time to answer a few.

Happy Birthday Beth Williamson/ Emma Lange

In honor Beth's Birthday !!!!!!

A con man. A rancher’s daughter. A wildfire out of control.

Elizabeth Graham spends her days running the business side of the Circle Eight ranch. Her knack for numbers and organization lent themselves to her position in the family. She has just turned twenty-one and doubts she will find a man to spend her life with. Elizabeth doesn’t believe in love, after all, and when she meets a charlatan named Vaughn Montgomery, her opinion doesn’t waver. At first.

Vaughn Montgomery is down to the lint in his pocket and the handsome smile he uses as a weapon. His last con in New Orleans went wrong and he fled west. Now he finds himself trapped in the middle of nowhere Texas. And at the mercy of a hard-nosed woman who wears shapeless dresses and whose tongue can cut blocks of wood.

Unwilling to bend and unable to forgive, Elizabeth and Vaughn get caught up in a web of lies that stretches from Austin to Dallas. She finds herself falling for the man who can’t seem to tell the truth and he can’t get enough of a woman who can only speak truths. Together they have to save the Circle Eight and try to avoid falling in love.

Review
"The last thing that Elizabeth Graham expected to see when she opened the door during the worst storm of the summer was a naked man. Yet there he was...". This is a great way to start "Vaughn". This is the next book that is part of The Circle Eight series. This book revolves around Elizabeth Graham and Vaughn Montgomery. The entire Graham clan is away from The Circle Eight and Elizabeth has stayed behind to take care of Martha who is to old and frail to go on a trip. When Vaughn appears at her door he is naked and beaten and Elizabeth takes him in and nurses him back to health. As she is helping him get better she wonders what happened to him, she doesn't know that Vaughn has a sordid past and that it is about to catch up to him and pull her and The Circle Eight into it.

This is another great book by author Emma Lang. I love the strength that this family has and Elizabeth surely proves that she is part of that strength. The other characters in the book are very well written and they have a lot of depth to them. If you have not read this series I highly recommend it and if you have you are going to love Vaughn

Here is the first book in a series that I highly recommend you read.

A man learns to hold what is his

It is a vast spread in the eastern wilds of the newly independent Republic of Texas, the ranch their parents fought for … and died for. To the eight Graham siblings, no matter how much hard work or hard love it takes, life is unthinkable without family…

In the wake of his parents’ murder, Matthew Graham must take the reins at the Circle Eight. He also needs to find a wife in just thirty days, or risk losing it all. Plain but practical, Hannah Foley seems the perfect bride for him . . . until after the wedding night.

Their marriage may make all the sense in the world, but neither one anticipates the jealousies that will result, the treacherous danger they’re walking into, or the wildfire of attraction that will sweep over them, changing their lives forever.

Now for the fun!!! I will be giving away an e-book version of Matthew
to one lucky commenter.
Give Beth a Happy Birthday wish and be in the running for the e-book.

Excerpt from Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission (Brie Dreams of Serving Faelan):

He handed her a note, and then left her on the dance floor alone. She opened the red envelope and read the words: Meet your Master in the library.

Brie kissed it, then fairly skipped off the dance floor, thrilled by his summons. She sauntered down the large hallway and took a deep breath before opening the large wooden door of the library.

The room was dark except for the crackling fire burn
The room was dark except for the crackling fire burning brightly on the opposite side of the room. The light of the flames glimmered off the covers of thousands of books lining the walls, and silhouetted the high-backed chairs and the table positioned near the fireplace.

Brie did not see anyone in the room, but shut the door quietly and headed towards the fire, intoxicated by the unknown.

“Stop.”

She held herself still, melting at the sound of his voice. Two figures appeared from the shadows—a man wearing a crimson mask, and another with a black mask that complemented his silver hair.

“We are going to play a game, pet.”

Brie’s heart skipped a beat. His games always proved challenging. “Yes, Master.”

The gentleman in the dark mask sat down while her Master moved up behind Brie. His warm breath tickled her neck. “But first, I must undress you.”

She felt his hands at the back of her neck as he unzipped her dress and let it pool at her feet. She had been instructed not to wear a bra or panties, so she stood naked except for her high heels before the two men.

“She has lovely breasts,” she heard the stranger say.

“That’s not all that is lovely about her,” her Master answered, slipping his hand between her legs. She felt his middle finger press into her, causing her to moan softly.

He growled in her ear. “The rules of the game are simple. He watches and directs. You do as he says.”

Brie nodded in understanding, goosebumps covering her skin despite the warmth of the fireplace. What will be asked of me?

“I want her bound to the table.”

Brie looked at the table and noticed for the first time the glint of metal.

My read a thon for Harris Channing's books

I have found a new author and I have also found a new friend. I recently went to the IRC wiath my great friend Cindy Callaway and we had the pleasure to meet authors Lori Brighton and Harris Channing. I had not read any of their books. I teased them that I was going to bring them home with me they are so much fun. Well it is not possible to bring them home with me, but I could bring home their books. So now I am in a read a thon to read their books.

I have picked Harris' books to read first. She has so many different genres and I couldn't wait to jump in. I thought why not have a marathon of her books, so now I have started. I have read the first one and finished it.

Blurb:
Mother Nature plays matchmaker...

Frostbitten Roberta Shallcross is a woman in need of a hero. David Henderson is far from that. He's a drunk who can't get past the murder of his wife, Sarah.

When David grudgingly saves Bobbie's life from the Rocky Mountain wilderness, she intends to return the favor. But will their burgeoning affection be powerful enough to overcome his guilt and grief?

Review:
OMG why have I not read this book already. In Sarah's Shadow is a American Historical. This story is about two people that meet through tragedy and the trials of living in the snow covered Colorado mountains. David has lost his wife to murder and Roberta has been in an accident and can't find her family. She wonders through the snow and finds his cabin.David has given up hope and is living in the bottom of a whiskey bottle, Roberta is hopeful that she can be reunited with her family. I love love love this story and I recommend it as a must read

Author:
An Army brat, Harris Channing traveled around the Southern US and Europe as a child before settling in Tennessee as an adult. Married with two children, she enjoys her family, reading, writing, and gardening.

Now I am on to the next book " The Demon is in the Details" I will post about it when I am finished.

Blurb:
Stella Campbell has come back to Silverton, Georgia to bury her wicked witch of an aunt. But is she strong enough to endure what's to come?

Zane Weathers has been around a long time, like, two thousand years. But he's never met anyone who touches his warrior soul, like Stella.

Together they must face not only personal obstacles, but obstacles straight from hell!

Review:
This is the second book that I have read by Harris Channing and I was just as happy with this one as I was the other. This is a paranormal romance and a really good one at that. Stella has to return to her home town in South Georgia after her aunt has died. She has to return to a house that something horrible has happened to her and get it cleaned out. While she is there a vehicle pulls into the driveway and someone get out. His name is Zane and he is there to inquire about painting the house. That is not his only reason. (I don't know how authors get these worlds built and these characters made so real.) There are Demons after Stella and Zane is there to help her. This was so much fun to read and the ending was great. Get a copy and read it for yourself

Now on to the next book by Harris "His for the Taking".

Blurb:
Lady Julianna loves Lord Jonathan Denbigh. But is he deserving?

Julianna's grandmother, Lady Chesterfield certainly doesn't think so but wants her granddaughter happy.

When Jonathan refuses to marry Julianna, Lady Chesterfield puts a ploy into motion that will see her granddaughter engaged by the end of the season. To one man or another...

Review:
I loved this story. Julianne and Jonathon have been friends for a very long time. She  is in love with him and he doesn't think that he is in love with her until she leaves for London. Read this  and you will not be sorry.

The read-a -thon has been going on all this week and I have read : The Unwilling Baroness, which is a wonderful novella . You really need to read this one. Check out all of my reviews on Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11419259-an-unwilling-baroness.

I have enjoyed reading Harris Channing's stories this week and I do have a few more that I will be reading in the next few weeks. Give her stories a try and I think you will be hooked like I am.

Wunder: An Erotic Zombie Novel (Wunder Series) (Volume 1) by A.R. Von

With Halloween being just a few weeks away I thought I would introduce to the world of Wunder:

Wunder isn’t your average girl in fact—she isn’t even an average human. In a world ravaged by Zombies, she was born amidst the chaos. She may have a normal life now…well as normal as a freak of nature could have. Part zombie while her job is to hunt bloodthirsty creatures to protect the innocent. It’s the dreams that haunt her and they aren’t nightmares. Wunder dreams of a man, a man made just for her. Is he real, can he be the one she‘s yearned for? Wunder’s life has been far from perfect so far, secretly being part Zombie in a world devastated by the plague of the walking dead. Still, she knew there was something special awaiting her, someone out there who could change everything and she did find him. Pete is everything she dreamed of and more as she discovers passion and fulfillment for the first time in her life. Pete has his own secrets to tell. His world is a lonely one as he wrestles with the reality of being part zombie. His hatred for the creatures that killed his parents drives him to patrol the streets and wipe them all out. His life would be stark, but for the dreams he’s been having; of a woman, so sensuous, so sexy. These alluring visions have become erotic and consuming. He feels as if he made her up to keep from going crazy. Is this life of hunting the walking dead, all there is? Or is she out there waiting—just for him? Now—with the reunion; Wunder’s life turns into a journey of discoveries. Secrets from the past come full circle and her world is changed forever. In the coming chaos, can she keep her new found happiness and the man of her dreams?

A.R. is a mother of two entertaining teen boys (as well as a lovely fawn Chihuahua, whom she considers her furry daughter.) She’s also a wife to a delightfully handsome and amazingly funny man-beast. She’s an avid reader of many genres which include (but are not limited to) erotica, paranormal, ménage, fantasy, YA, western (she has to have a hot cowboy, or two, here and there) and somehistorical. She also loves to exercise, listen to music, hike, cook, dance and write. She writes to free her mind of its constant wondering and loves the fact she can share it with readers that have the same passion for a great story. She loves to hear from her reader’s and chat away, so feel free to reach out to her any time. http://dreamzofdragons.blogspot.com/ OR at:https://www.facebook.com/ARVon2 Don’t miss the awesome trailer! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sipAihP2MhQ&feature=youtu.be

I have read this story as an ebook and it was broken up into diffferent stories. I will now re-read this story in book form where the stories have been merged into one and bonus material also. Can't wait to read again. I  really enjoyed this story, I didn't see how a zombie story would be something I would like to read and I was so surprised at how good it actually was. Just a lesson that you should try something new a try and you  never know what world you will get pulled into. Waiting to read more about Wunder and her world. Thanks A.R. Von for introducing me  to the Wunder universe.

Now for the fun part!!!!
A.R. Von is going to introduce one lucky poster to the world of Wunder by giving away the first e-book in the series. Read about the Wunder world the way I first read it. Leave a comment  and an e-mail and on October 18th I will draw for a winner!!

Indie Romance Conference 2013

Last weekend I attended my first book conference in Lebanon,Tn. It was called Indie Romance Conference or IRC from here on out. It was an amazing experience. These ladies write their book, publish their books and promote their books without the publishing houses. That is simply amazing to me. I attended with Cindy Callaway and she was able to take a ton of pictures that I will be posting some of them here.
Me being a FANGIRL with Red

The first author I saw when I pulled into the hotel was Red Phenoix. She is one of my favorite authors and I love her books. I was all fangirl about getting to meet her and her wonderful husband. She was and is so grateful to her readers (fans) and she really lets you know it. Was able to have lunch with her and hubby and some of her readers and we all had a GREAT time. She hosted a chocolate party in her room the last night we were there and had a BLAST!! Thank you Red for making my first book conference the best it could be.  Love you and your husband.
A.R. Von helping with registration

I got to finally meet A.R. Von. Have you ever had one of those moments when you know you know someone, but your not quite sure. That is what happened to me when I saw her. I just stared like a crazy woman and I finally asked her name. I was thrilled!!!! Wish I had taken her up on the invite to go out Friday night because she got sick and didn't get to see her again. Next time definitely going to get tons of pictures and party with my girl!! Love ya Ava!!!!
Me, Lori Brighton, Harris Channing and Cindy Callaway

Next we met two Awesome authors at the pizza social on Friday night. Lori Brighton and Harris Channing. I feel so lucky to have met them. We had so much fun just talking and socializing with them. I feel like I have made two friends that I will see again soon. Love you ladies!!!!

We attended some very informative panels and I learned quite a bit about a variety of subjects. On Friday night we went to a panel on BDSM and had a demo from a Dom and sub. They showed how ordinary household items can be used and a sensory item in BDSM lifestyle. They call them pervertables I think. It was very informative. We attended some conferences on promotion, one called "Lets talk about Sex". That was interesting. We ended the conference with a dinner out at a mexican restaurant. We sat with some new people that we hadn't had the chance to talk to. It was so much fun getting to know different people. I am sure that I will run into them again. I am now addicted to these conferences. If you get a chance to attend or just go to the book signings that accompany these events just do it. You will have a BALL!!!!

Hell Without You

I have been reading books by Renae Rose this past month and I have discovered a new to me author. The book club that I belong to here in Knoxville had one of her books on our list for this month and I liked it so I read another. So when she asked for ARC readers I jumped at the opportunity. I was very happy I did. The booked is called "Hell Without You" and it was soooo good. It has come out this week and I recommend you pick it up.

I love the cover and that alone would have made me pick this book up.

Blurb:

Time changes everything, except what’s meant to be.

Seven years is a long time – long enough to transform Clementine from a small-town teenager with a broken heart into a woman ready to take on the world, but not long enough to make her forget about the man she was never supposed to see again. A temporary return to tiny Willow Heights thrusts her back into Donovan’s life and home, unearthing heartbreak and obsession that have stood the test of time.

He left seven years ago too, for war and other things Clementine can only imagine. Coming back to the town where he grew up in the shadow of poverty and drug addiction makes no sense, and neither do Clementine’s feelings for him. He could never forgive her for leaving, could he? Even if she had no choice.

Now, she has the freedom to choose … and so does he. Every day in Willow Heights makes it clearer: all he ever really wanted was her, and nothing will change that. Not even a taste of the hell that drove them apart in the first place

Review:

When Clementine and Donovan were young they were in love with each other. When an unspeakable event happens to Clementine, Donovan takes action and in order for Donovan to stay out of trouble Clementine leaves Willow Heights and Donovan behind. She goes to college and he joins the Marines and goes to Afghanistan. Seven years later Clementine ends up back in her hometown and reconnects with Donovan. Even after seven years he is still in love with her and never forgot their love for one another. As they start getting to know each other in the present the past is catching up with them.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought that the characters were very well developed and believable. Ranae really goes into detail with her characters and the situations they find themselves in. Must say she really knows how to write an excellent "love" scene. "Hell Without You" is a stand alone contemporary romance. I hope you enjoy the story and characters as much as I did.
